BMX

Alex LloydAlex Lloyd
Bike: Statts

One of the most exiting BMX racers to watch Alex Lloyd always turns heads when he is on track. Years of Trails and BMX racing have taken Alex racing All over Australian and around the world. With numerous titles on all levels BMX is a solid part of Alex's identity.

Mitchell ChastenMitchell Chasten
Bike: GHP

Mitchell started racing when he was 8 (2005) and joined the Blackman's Team the following year (2006). He races on a carbon fiber GHP bike specially designed by Dougo.

His best results so far are

  • State Titles, 3rd/2006 1st/2007 3rd/2008 1st/2009 4th/2010
  •  Nationals, 9th/2008 10th/2009     Worlds, 9th/2009
  • XBR – 1st /2010    State of Origin, 1st/2008 1st/2009

He is competing in the Champikz rounds for the first time this year and is going well- his aim this year is to make it to the finals at the Nationals and top 8 in the Champikz Rounds. He has stepped up his training and fitness regime in order to achieve his goals. He trains most days at his local club "the Hawkesbury Hornets"

Aidan VahtrikAidan Vahtrik
Bike: 20'' GT Carbon Pro XL.

Aiden has raced the Blackman’s colours for several years at club, state, and National event. Despite being a champion 4x and BMX racer Aiden and the Vahtrik family always present their bikes like they were a prize winning show car. You would think that after such dedication to detail that the Vartrik siblings would baby their bikes and be a little scared of a little dust and rain. I don’t think so...... Aiden holds nothing back, completely committed to grabbing the holeshot and spinning the cranks off his weapon. Aiden is well aware a clean bike is not why he needs another trophy cabinet.

Abbey Jane VahtrikAbbey Jane Vahtrik

When Abbey was 9 years old she won the 4A plate at the 2007 Australian Titles. Since then Abbey has represented Blackmans at all the major events. Racing is BMX is just one of the ways that Abbey knows how to get the most out of life.

Jordan LecherJordan Lecher
Bike: Staats Pro xl 20'' and Staats Pro 24 cruiser.

WORLD CHAMPION LECHER LEADS THE WAY.

Jordan Lecher has made 2010 a year to remember. From his performances at the Panthers club days to the Worlds biggest stage in South Africa Jordan has shown that he is a world class BMXer with a huge future.

Check out all the latest on Jordan in our website News Section.

Michael JobsonMichael Jobson
Bike: GIANT STP - GIANT GLORY - GHP

Michael started racing mountain bikes July 06 and competes in both Mtnx and Downhill. With many titles under his belt Jobbo still loves the extreme sports and continues to ride and race at every avalible opportunity.

Daniel WillisDaniel Willis
Bike: DK race BMX

Daniel has been a team member for 3 years and in this time has developed into one of the most consistant riders in his age class in the country. At the last 3 National Titles he has placed 6th in 2005, 6th in 2006 and 4th in 2007. Daniel rides with the Castle Hill club in Sydney and trains with Chook Chetcuti.

In recent times Daneil has been picked up by DK as a factory team rider. With the support of Blackmans and Backing from DK Daniel has added 4X to his bag of tricks, and continues to fill his trophy cabinet.

Mountain Bikes

Paul KingPaul King
Bike: 2010 Giant Glory 00, 2011 Giant Trance X0

If you live in the lower blue mountains and don’t know Paul King I’m sure you have heard a story about him. If it is possible to find a medium between recklessness and precision Kingy has found it.

After laying dormant from the racing scene for 6 years Paul King is now back racing Downhill with the Blackman's Gravity team.  Being a Veteran and founder of the sport in Australia Paul is a welcome addition to the Gravity team sharing his advice and experience with all those willing to learn.

Along with being a very exiting racer to watch Paul is also can be heard commentating at the major events , writing reviews in Revolution magazine, and is a very active member of BMORC helping create a sustainable future for mountain biking in the lower blue mountains.

Paul King –The spirit of cycling.

Jasen RaymondJasen Raymond
Bike: Giant Anthem, Giant TCR

With a long term love of fitness mountain biking was a natural move for Jasen. Jasen started racing his Giant Anthem straight away and quickly moved up the grades where he currently races in A grade.

Jasen's Giant TCR has been a great training aid to his fitness and training. the combination of 2 performance Giants, a love of racing and dedication to clocking up the km's Jasen is making life very difficult for his competitors at WSMTB and 24hr enduro events.

Matt LeesMatt Lees
Bike: Santa Cruz V-10

Matt Lees was one of the original Gravity team sponsored riders. During the 90's when the development of downhill racing was in in its infancy, downhill bikes were nothing more than a cross country bike with an extra inch of travel. Matt silenced those who mocked him by winning a state title on a Kmart bought mountain bike. With a love of downhill and a natural ability to sight, evaluate and attack any jump or drop without hesitation. if you ever get the chance to ride freeride with Matt you will be confused as to how eager and fearless he is.

A short time ago i had the chance to ride a freeride trail with Matt, i spotted a drop off a ledge. About 9m below was what Matt called a lander ( it looked like a poorly positioned broken pallet) off Matt went pushing back up the hill. I stared at the drop for a while thinking humans really shouldn't be doing this before i knew it i had to step aside for Lee-bomber to launch off the ledge and land back on earth with pin point accuracy.

Welcome to the team Matt.

Alex WagnerAlex Wagner
Bike: Merida Carbon FLX

Alex Wagner is one of Western Sydney MTB's shining stars and has been riding for Blackman's for several seasons. Alex's weapon of choice is the Merida carbon FLX. You will most definitely see Alex tearing up the race circuit at local, state and national level. Just check the podiums.

Road Track and Tri

Alison DiskinAlison Diskin
Bike: Merida Reacto 907

After years of running marathons (raising money for Cancer Research) Alison has decided to step it up and added riding and swimming to her racing by entering the Ironman and Tri compititions. Recently Alison  finished 14/29 in her age group at the Yeppoon - capricorn resort Ironman, a respectable result for an athlete carring a chest infection and was expected not to even start.

Next races for alison are Forster Long Course Ultimate - (2km swim/120km bike/20km run) - 16th October. Port Macquarie Ironman 70.3 6th November and Canberra Ironman 70.3 12th December. Both events are qualifiers for the World Age Group Champs in Vegas next year. keep your eyes out for Alsion as she fights for a spot in the national team. Rumours of 4am training before work, hundreds of kilometers traveled after work, coaches, dietitians and the commitment of someone who is hungry for her spot on the team will ensure her competiton will have to make a super human effort to beat the new member of our "Gun Cabinet".
